Tidbits

  • The battle with the breast pump may finally be over. We bought the Ameda Purely Yours pump shortly before Sofian was born, and it seemed to work alright for Parie in its early usage. But then it started to take forever to do a pumping, no matter how much Parie jiggled the knobs (pun intended) on the pump controller. We called Ameda, described what was happening, and their first-rate customer service told us it really sounded like a motor problem. So they shipped us out a replacement via next-day air.

But... the replacement didn't seem to be working either. Could we have gotten two duds in a row? We decided to give Ameda one more try, went through the customer service line, and got a replacement next-day-aired. And that was a dud, too.

We contacted Ameda one last time to request our money back (which they will be doing -- again, their customer service has been top notch), and Parie went and purchased the Medela Pump In Style (which we almost bought originally, especially after hearing it recommended on one of our fave telly shows -- Weeds). She inaugurated the pump this afternoon, and it was amazing how well it worked!

  • I feel somewhat defeated. I just pulled the trigger on a window air conditioner purchase from Amazon. We're looking at a hot summer here in Seattle, and our house doesn't have the best ventilation. That wouldn't be too much of a problem for me, but Sofian runs hot blooded (check it and see), as does Parie, and I'll do whatever I can to keep them from screaming in discomfort.

As it is, Sofian is pretty much refusing to go to sleep cos he's so uncomfortable, so we're off for a drive...
